- Jamie articled with Madorin, Snyder LLP in 1979, was called to the Bar in 1981 and has
been a partner since 1985. He has extensive experience in civil litigation primarily in the
areas of personal injury, professional liability, municipal liability, insurance litigation, estate
litigation, commercial litigation and shareholder disputes.
- Jamie’s family law practice is restricted to Collaborative Family Law, mediation, and
mediation/arbitration. He is a former counsel for children through the office of the
Children’s Lawyer and has often been privately retained to represent children’s interests in
custody and access disputes.
- Jamie has had cases before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional
Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada and he also has
extensive experience resolving disputes outside of the court process. He acts as a part time
mediator and arbitrator himself and regularly acts as counsel for parties involved in
mediating or arbitrating civil disputes.
- He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Advocates Society, the Waterloo
Law Association, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Ontario
Collaborative Law Federation, and is a founding member and treasurer of the Collaborative
Family Law Association of Waterloo/Wellington Region.
- Jamie has, since 1992, worked part time as a Deputy Court Judge in the Superior Court of
Justice. He has been a lecturer and guest speaker with Wilfred Laurier University,
Conestoga College, the Waterloo Region District School Board, the Advocates Society, and
the Waterloo Law Association.
- He has completed Level II (Advanced) training in Collaborative Family Law. He has
mediation and alternative dispute resolution training and has for many years been retained
as a mediator in insurance, family law and estate cases.
- Jamie is actively involved in the community and was formerly a long time member of the
Family and Children Services Board and Foundation as well as the Board of the Grand River
Hospital.
